Our mission is to seek the restoration of double and triple coupons to the Kroger Houston Metro area, and to prevent the roll out to all other markets. This website was started after confirming Kroger will stop DOUBLE-TRIPLE coupons effective 4/13/11 for the Houston area. Regardless of where you live and shop, you are welcome to make your feelings and concerns known by providing a comment below:

Disappointed, Yes! However.....
written by Tifiny Briner, September 09, 2011
I have been couponing with Krogers for over 2 years now. They have been my go-to store for stockpiling. I am very disappointed in the coupon policy change. However, looking at my receipt from my last visit, during the P&G sale, I saved $80 on my $100 trip using coupons. Out of that $80 only $2 was from doubling/tripling. I know this will hit some of us in the wallet, myself included. But it isn't as bad as everyone is thinking. I will be keeping an eye out for Mix&Match sales, such as the P&G one, but my weekly business will be going to my local HEB.

Kroger, or any other grocery chain for that matter, does not care what you or I think. They do not care if we are struggling. All they care about is PROFITS. Store Managers could care less if we save money or shop at their store. When it comes time for THEM TO NEED deals like double/triple coupons to survive ONLY THEN will THEY realize how important these promotions are. Soon no stores will have double/triple coupon promitions. I see more and more stores going towards digital coupons that you load onto your loyalty cards. Once they are more wide spread we will see paper coupons go away because digital is easier to control and easier for the grocery store to submit for payment to manufacturers.

Going to Shop Somewhere else
written by Sad in McKinney, TX, September 08, 2011
It's very disappointing to hear. I shop for many family members that need the help with their groceries because gas for work is so high. Doubling/tripling coupons has allowed me to help my newly married daughter & husband, my mother(lives on less than 900.00 a month), several sisters, nieces as well as my own family. I won't be shopping at Krogers but instead I will have to shop at Albertsons where they still doubles/triple coupons. I will miss Kroger but I have to go where I will save the most money to help those people I help. Otherwise, I can't stretch my dollars enough to help others. Doubling and Tripling was a blessing in these Times of Need for all of us who are struggling. Please think Twice about your Decision Kroger!!!

Please bring back double/tripling coupons. I live in Frisco, TX and our Krogers just eliminated this program. In my area, this really gave Kroger a price advantage in bringing in customers verses other competitors. Now I will be doing most of my shopping at a Super Target that allows manufacterer coupons to be used in conjunction with Target coupons. I'm not an extreme couponer, but a mom trying to save money in every way I can. I am simply being forced to take my business elsewhere, it's up to Kroger if they want me as their customer. Many other companies are willing to take my business if you don't.

I am a big shopper and fan of Kroger grocery. I shop there because of your coupon policy. I am on a strict budget. If double coupons are taken away....it will FORCE me to do all of my shopping at my Super Wal-Mart...because I will have to be budget conscience and I will have no choice.
PLEASE do not take DOUBLE COUPONS away! I love you Kroger!!

I have shopped at kroger for several years & have shopped at kroger because they double coupons. I am not a coupon abuser but I reasonably use coupons to make my monthly budget. If kroger stops doubling coupons I will hardly have a reason to shop there but will go to the nicer grocery store in town that has better prices when coupons are taken out of the picture.

I can't help but think the coupon hoarders have caused all of this. Why should all of us be punished becasue a few people think they need 500 tubes of toothpaste and 300 bottles of shampoo. I can see how this would affect Kroger.. Let's meet in the middle how about doubling one coupon per like item like Tom Thumb does?? At least that would haelp the reited people like my self that only wants one. Why punish all?? I believe I will be switching to Albertsons until Kroger wises up!!

I'm sad to hear that this is also happening in the Dallas area. I have been very loyal to Kroger since we bought our house here 10 years ago rarely shopping anywhere else. Now I will be shopping at any store I can get the best deal, specially with the double and triple coupons. Please reconsider this, you will lose lots of loyal and happy customers!

DOUBLE COUPONS
written by A Loyal Kroger Memphis Shopper, September 07, 2011
Dear Kroger Execs, Couponing is a major source of how I reduce my grocery expenses. It is like a part time job keeping the coupons updated and sorted. I also work at matching the coupons to what is on sale every week. Keeping everything updated and managed is not an easy task but it is something that I do because I know it will save me money if I shop at Kroger.

With Kroger purchasing Schnucks in Memphis and recently I learned that Kroger will be stopping coupon doubling in Texas, my concern is that it will lead to stopping doubling here in Memphis also. Less competition why double?

I believe that Kroger will lose a great many sales because us couponers will go where the prices are the lowest... right now with doubling - most of the time it is Kroger. Without doubling, it may be Walgreens, Target, Walmart, etc. Think about the amount of business that you will be losing from loyal customers in your Texas stores and the harm in customer relations that this will cause. Kroger does not have the lowest prices and with today's economy people will shop at the places that have the lowest prices. Think about what you are doing and the harm that you will cause, not only for Kroger but for the customer.

Bring back double coupons for my Texas friends.

Don't punish the masses for abuses of a select few, Kroger
written by Jennifer, September 07, 2011
When they eliminate doubling & tripling at my Krogers in a week, I will be moving my business to Walmart. In fact, the Highland Village Walmart is a heck of a lot nicer than Kroger & they will price match anything without hassle. I am not an extreme couponer, but if that is the issue, why not institute limits or fix your software that allows couponing fraud? Don't punish the masses for abuses of a select few! Your alternate savings programs don't benefit me: there is no Kroger fueling station near me & most of the discount at Shell is eaten up by their markup. I don't have medical problems that require a lot of prescriptions. The produce at the Highland Village Walmart is a lot more fresh, the store is MUCH cleaner, and even the sushi bar is better & cheaper! I will drive the extra 3 miles for a better shopping experience and a store that has better customer service. Yes I said it - better customer service at WALMART - BIG mistake Kroger.

Dear Kroger,
Beginning Sept. 14, I will no longer shop at your store. Our store here in central Texas is shoddy and rundown. Since you will no longer double or triple coupons, I will gladly take my coupons and my business to Walmart. If by chance you have something less expensive, I will price match. Goodbye Kroger!!!

Walmart Execs are drinking the finest whiskey tonight...
written by Johnathan Sanders, September 07, 2011
New ad for Kroger in Dallas/Fort Worth announced that they would no longer double or triple as of the 14th of September in our stores. Walmart execs were subsequently sighted smoking expensive Cubans and pouring fine whiskey to celebrate.

Why on earth would I shop at a higher priced store when Walmart and Target will price match the ad price and is almost guaranteed to have a lower EDLP? Plus Target offers great gift card deals (Much like Extra Bucks at CVS - only better).

At least I still have Albertsons and Tom Thumb (Safeway) who still double and triple. Kroger, It is in your best interest to reconsider this foolish choice.

Back to walmart I will go.
written by Katie in CO, September 07, 2011
I have a large family and even after coupon saving I still spend about $500- $700 a month at my kroger store. The only thing that keeps me shopping at kroger is the double coupons. If they eleminate the double coupons back to Walmart I go because the prices are slightly less. So if no matter what store I am shopping at I am going to get face value for my coupon, then I am shopping at the cheaper store.

Hey Kroger - I live in 75093. With the elimination of double coupons it will make more sense for me to shop at the brand new aldis and use their $5 off of $25 coupons. Less work for me! Sorry, but I will vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere.

With Walmart looming close by....
written by Brandi Spinn, September 07, 2011
You would think that a company trying to fight the good fight against mega chain Walmart would want to keep their competitive edge by continuing a practice that not only is very needed at this time but is the main reason people still shop at their stores. I was a staunch Walmart shopper until very recently but was converted after a friend showed me what a great place Kroger was but with this recent change I believe I will transfer my shopping back to Walmart. Currently Walmart is running their most recent 'price match' campaign along with their test piloting double/triple coupons in the North East; and though this company may have come under scrutiny in the past for practices we may not agree with I feel that this is the one grocery store out there that is actually paying attentiong to the current economic status as well as it's people.

I've been a loyal Kroger customer for the past 10 years. I'm a stay-at-home mom that has been able to save an average of 50% of our grocery bill shopping at Kroger. I sure am going to miss it but I'm more than happy to give my business to Tom Thumb or Albertson's. Kroger just lost this customer.

I am so sad that you all are taking away double/triple coupons. I have been a loyal shopper for years and have been doing all my shopping here because I can not only get a great deal using my coupons, but also bless others with my abundance. I will no longer be taking my business with you all and will move onto another store i.e. albertson, tom thumb that will double/triple my coupon values. In times like these my family has to make sacrifices to make ends meet. Coupons help fill the gap. Please reconsider bringing back the double/triple coupons so you can win not only my business back, but tens of thousands of others as well. smilies/angry.gif

I am very saddened at the announcement of the ending of doubles in the TX/LA region. This was the very reason I began shopping exclusively at your store 4 years ago. My family could very well qualify for government assistance, but because I could d/t my coupons at your store I was able to leave that for others. I will not be able to shop very much at your store without the additional savings by doubling coupons. Your loyal customers are not being treated very kindly!!!!!!

The main reason that I choose to shop at the store on Bethany and Allen Heights in Allen, TX is because you double and triple coupons. I choose to purchase certain items in your store because my coupons will double or triple, vs using it in a store like Target or Walmart. I have been a loyal customer even when the shiny new Super Walmart and Super Target opened here in Allen, and this is how you repay us?

I know I will be checking out the prices at Tom Thumb this weekend. If you could give us a better explanation of why you are ending a program that you've been doing for 20+ years, we might not be so mad. I don't think you have an explanation.

Customer Disservice.
written by Tonia Goodwin, September 07, 2011
I feel so sick today hearing this news. I have many friends that will find a new place to shop now, namely Tom Thumb and Albertson's. As if it wasn't enough that store manager's in Mesquite insult you when you have a coupon, and the employee's in Rockwall throw your receipt in your face before walking off simply because you used coupons, now we get this HUGE bit of coupon customer friendliness thrown at us too?! You've got to be kidding. Oh wait, you're serious. Thanks for nothing.

I can not believe this!!
written by Tondaleya Kovach, September 07, 2011
I can not believe that Kroger will no longer be doubling and tripling coupons for their customers. This is the main reason that I go to Krogers because of how I can use my coupons. I have no need to clear the shelves and never have. I do not have the storage in my home for that mess like in that crazy Extreme show. I rely on the double and triple coupons for saving money for my family. Really though I can go to Wal-mart and save so much more when buying an item without a coupon but when Kroger has it on sale and i can use a coupon that doubles or triples it saves me a little bit more (even if it is 10cents that is a lot in my wallet i didn't have before). Wal-mart now will even compare prices in the ads for other stores but I always took the extra step to go to Kroger and use my coupons. Wal-mart might not double or triple but now that Kroger is stopping I will no longer need to shop at Kroger because it is just to expensive (and the digital coupons do not help much when it is the same thing that is in the paper which is easier to remember what you have when in hand than on a card). However in my area we also do have Albertson's and they still double and triple coupons. I guess I will have to switch to their store instead where i could save money. I always went to Kroger though because they are friendlier and cleaner than Albertson's and the atmosphere is a lot better at Kroger.

Why?
written by Patricia Frank, September 07, 2011
I'm sure you're well aware of how bad the economy is, jobs are few and far between, and how difficult it is for many working families to buy groceries. Not all of us who use coupons clear the shelves or only buy what we have coupons for. The coupons are used for supplements ... the money we save on those items can be used to purchase other products that we might not otherwise be able to afford.

I cannot believe that you would even think to eliminate double coupons in any area. You have a lot of competition! WalMart, Save-A-Lot, Aldi, Meijer, and KMart just to name a few. The double coupons is one of my main reasons for shopping at your store! If you no longer double, why should I buy my groceries there when 9 times out of 10, I can get them cheaper at WalMart without double coupons ... plus they price match!

I believe you will find that many of your loyal customers will be unhappy with your decision and shop elsewhere ... not only for their groceries, but for their prescriptions, as well. You may want to reconsider and decide if this is really good for business.

Really, Kroger? REALLY??
written by Lydia, September 06, 2011
In all seriousness, what a way to lose customers.

Here in Michigan (or at least all the stores I've been to...and it's a lot), Kroger limits the use of coupons to 3 like coupons per household per day. Before this policy had been put in place, I shopped at Kroger for almost EVERYTHING (Health & Beauty, Produce, Meats, Dairy...etc)!! Now, I limit my purchases at Kroger to only products that are cheap enough to be worth my time and effort to get to the store (usually 2 or 3 items per week).

They have not stopped doubling coupons, but if they do, I will have absolutely NO REASON to shop at Kroger anymore. I would much rather shop at the one other grocery chain in our area (Meijer), especially since produce prices are a bit better at Meijer anyway.

Despite limited options as far as grocery stores, I would still drop Kroger in a heartbeat if they do away with the only reason I still shop there...doubled coupons. I can only imagine the damage Kroger is doing to itself in Houston, TX, with Houston having much more competition for Kroger than we do here in Michigan.

Bring back doubling of coupons in Houston (and anywhere else it has been done away with)!! And make sure to KEEP doubled coupons (and do away with coupon limits) everywhere else!

The Kroger here in Jonesboro/Fayetteville, GA has not stopped "double" couponing. If they do, I will take my business to Food Lion and/or Publix. There is also a Walmart, within driving distance.

I faithfully spend between $250/300 every other week. I also purchase fuel from Kroger. This can be in the range of up to $400/500 a month.

Therefore, I think it would be "beneficial" to keep me as a customer.

Gone & Done
written by Jeremy, August 19, 2011
I was shopping at Kroger 90% of the time, well about 98% of my time, and my wife would go by HEB because it was a right turn for her. I went to Kroger, always to Kroger, to save $ with coupons. Since that stopped, without warning, with lies and deceptions and false promises and pledges in their corporate responses and local managers feeling inept, because they are not informed and local/regional policies change by day, by manager, by shift....I've been gone and done, KROGER FREE for more than three months now.

I'm not going back until Double & Triple Coupons are back.

Please rethink your coupon policy change
written by Stacia Schrecongost, August 16, 2011
My local Kroger stores have been upgraded to grand and glorious supermarkets. My trip through my stores is friendly and helpful, with your employees greeting me and asking if I need anything. The cashiers are almost like friends as we see each other weekly, if not more, and I ask about their name tag questions. I enjoy shopping in a clean environment. I do shop at other stores from time to time, but stick with Kroger (now into my 11th year) because of your coupon doubling policy, and the aforementioned items. I was shopping with Kroger back when there were super doubles up to $2.00 a few times a year. I can understand why super doubles was stopped as that is a fair amount of money to match. But $.50? Really? Someone stated earlier "As for the Kroger response of "only 7% of customers use coupons and only 1% use more than 10 coupons per transaction". I have to wonder why "Kroger (NYSE:KR)...one of the nation's largest grocery retailers, with fiscal 2010 sales of $82.2 billion." (see http://www.thekrogerco.com/index.htm) is even bothering themselves with 7% or less of the customers using coupons, rather than congratulating yourselves because 93% pay full price. And if you have that 93% paying full price, then they more than make up for the doubling of coupons that the few of us use in your stores. Please rethink the changes you are implementing.

And one other thing I must add. I am sorely disappointed in your decision to be featured on the Extreme Couponing show. Not only did everything shown go against all your coupon standards as expressed on your website (or did...sadly I cannot find those written guidelines and that leaves me to fear possible changes ahead) but this show makes fun of your customers. How you can feel right about encouraging this behavior by partaking in the show is hard to understand. It's a complete double standard, particularly given the new coupon policy in Texas.

Please do rethink this coupon policy change. We represent such a small part of your customers that it seems like small change to Kroger, yet it's big dollars to the families that enjoy the doubled coupon match that you offer us.

No more Kroger for our family
written by Brandy, August 13, 2011
I have shopped at Kroger in the NW Houston area my entire life. I truly enjoyed the staff and selection at my nearest store. However, since the change in your coupon policy, I have started shopping at Wal Mart and other local stores. The stringent rules you've placed on couponers, as well as the elimination of double/triple coupons has caused a boycott of your stores for my immediate family, as well as much of my extended family. Both my household, and that of my sister, are currently operating on one income. The savings are needed.

Fuel rewards do not offset the money lost by not doubling coupons. I am in sales, and drive all day, every day, and I still do not save as much money with the fuel discounts. It's so disappointing. As a result, I also refuse to purchase fuel at your stations. HEB is usually cheaper any way.

Addtionally, after seeing your stores on that god-forsaken TV show MULTIPLE times, I am disgusted by your lack of honesty and consistency. Kroger, you've lost my business.

When I shopped at Kroger on a weekly basis for my family, I used to buy, buy, buy a full cart of groceries and use maybe 15-20 coupons with my order. If I used 15 coupons and all 15 of them were worth .50, they would double to $7.50 off. It may not sound like a lot to you, but it adds up. Because you ended the program, each time I drive past your store, I'm going to crank up the radio and play that song from that one boy band and sing: "bye, bye, bye!!"

BRING BACK THE DOUBLES/TRIPLES
written by Jo Williams, August 11, 2011
Bill Breetz and Kroger talk about how they support the hungry families, senior citizens, etc. in our area ... ironically, it's programs where they get a very nice tax deduction. THEY want to make the contributions rather than having d/t coupons (TO SHELF VALUE, instead of the current sales value amount they're using) so these families can feel good about putting food on their tables. I've been POOR, NOT knowing where my next meal was coming from and didn't have the gas money (or a reliable vehicle) to get to a food pantry, I barely had enough to get to the store. This move by Kroger would have meant the difference of eating or NOT for me, back then. Once you've been in that position, you never forget how difficult it was ... you also don't forget the stores that helped you through it, by offering programs that allowed you to buy NECESSITIES.
MANY people will NOT be forgetting that Kroger decided the Houston Gulf Coast area (with 137,000+ in daily need of food assistance) no longer deserved the d/t coupon program, effective 4/13/11 and have continued to think that way. If that weren't enough, NOW in the stores they still do d/t coupons, it's only up to the sales price (instead of shelf price, as it was for 30+ years) AND the mega dollar discounts do NOT count toward the fuel rewards (and always did). So, those stores that "think" they are still offering so much are STILL reducing shoppers' benefits.
Adding insult to injury, Kroger continues to be very PROMINENT on "unlimited" d/t coupons on the EC show ...only to have EXTREMELY disappointed new shoppers when they were limited -- can anyone say, "FALSE ADVERTISING"??? So, Kroger gives these hoarding, gluttonous, shelf-clearing shopaholics unlimited d/t coupons ... while families LITERALLY go hungry in our area.
Then, you have the news articles where Dailey is saying Kroger considers couponers "sophisticated, savvy shoppers" ... uh, okay, but we're too "stupid" to figure out that Kroger's fuel program + face value coupons + coupon value only to sales price on prices the same as the rest of the country is MORE expensive? ... Next, I expect to hear them say, "Now, don't worry your purty little head 'bout such things, honey ... that's men's work!"
-- Kroger, have the courtesy NOT to insult my intelligence ... and NOT to show YOUR LACK of it!

Bring Back Double Coupons
written by Christen Cook, August 10, 2011
I don't live in the Houston, TX area, but I am concerned as a Kroger shopper that once one Kroger area creates a stricter coupon policy, the other Kroger regions are not far behind. My local Kroger in Dacula, GA has already set stricter limits on their coupon policy without notice. The cashiers and managers also have started treating customers who use coupons like we are stealing or should be ashamed that we are using coupons. This has caused me to do more and more of my shopping at Publix, where the customer service has remained excellent and no one treats me like a thief. I feel like I will soon be forced to stop shopping at Kroger all together; and as a mother of 2 who spends approximately $700 a month at the grocery store, I wonder if Kroger even wants my business at all.

I love shopping at Krogers. I miss using all my coupons. Kroger is 3 blocks from my house but Wal-Mart across town might start doubling coupons. I will change stores to save money. I love the cashiers at Kroger. Sometimes it worth a small trip just to see them and make me smile! And one of the cashiers is so sweet to my children! Please bring back our coupons! Kroger sets up a sell for 10/10 and then I can only use 3 coupons?! Thats not fair(and yes I know Life isn't fair!)

Since the Kroger in our area has changed its coupon policy we have quit going to your stores. We miss your employees who we thought as family but cannot in good faith justify paying more than Wal-Mart, who will take your coupons & meet your prices. We have even been driving 30 minutes away to double & triple coupons at Brookshire brothers & Food Fair to promote business at these retailers who are so excited to have my business. I'm sad to lose you but there are other stores who want my business far more than you obviously.

While I worked at Kroger I had the best picture of Kroger being such a wonderful store, and that they doubled and tripled my coupons. It WAS a wonderful place to work and shop, and now I haven't been in a Kroger in a long time!

I will stop shopping at Kroger if they stop doubling. I quit for a long time previously because their prices had gotten out of hand. With the coupons...which are doubled, it makes it affordable to shop there again. This is one customer that will change and not shop there anymore...even if there are gas discounts. I will shop elsewhere.

No more Kroger for me!
written by Ann in Katy, August 09, 2011
I only started shopping at Kroger when I started using coupons frequently to help feed me and my son. I think Kroger does not know how many shoppers use coupons, 7%, really? Brookshire Bros doubles and triples and Randalls too. Walmart price matches. HEB just has good deals anytime. So why would I want to go to Kroger? Bring back doubles and triples and I'll gladly visit Kroger once again!

I fed my family with double/triple coupons
written by v.princre, August 08, 2011
Ever since Kroger's stopped doubling and tripling coupons...I have made an effort to not shop there as often. The main purpose that I shopped there was because I was able to feed my family of 8 on a good budget and coupons. Now I give my business to Walmart and HEB...Bringing back the double/triple coupons would bring me back to Kroger's!smilies/cry.gif

BOYCOTTING!!!
written by Christie Coats, August 08, 2011
I have walked into Kroger only once since I started boycotting in April and I can't remember what I bought. It is taking me more time and effort but I am boycotting Kroger. I have been price matching their Ads at Walmart and my Walmart takes Kroger Coupons that they send to me in the mail. There are plenty of stores around here and I can double and triple small value coupons at Brookshire Bros. and they will price match. I also have HEB that has an awesome Produce and Meat dept. and they have their great free deals. I have even driven 20+ miles to Randalls to double / triple coupons. I will continue to Boycott until the coupon policy is changed!!!

I do the bulk of my shopping at Walmart and HEB. If you want me back shopping alot in your store again , KROGER - BRING BACK THE DOUBLE TRIPLE COUPONS !!!!

FRUSTRATED SINGLE MOM!!!
written by Dede, August 08, 2011
I based my decision to move to Texas based on good schools and the ability to save on groceries. I remember Kroger from a small city that I use to live in and it was my favorite store. I am disappointed because not long after moving, the policy changed. I use to frequent the Kroger across the street from me at least 3 times/week but not anymore. I do my shopping at HEB and Walmart although they are further away. This new policy couldn't come at a worst time!! None of us will ever spend $1000 a month on groceries to save a $1.00 so what's the point of offering something that isn't even cost effective? To spend $1000 to save $20...am I missing something here? Thanks for hitting us so hard in the walletsmilies/sad.gif...that hurts!!!! Please reconsider!!!

You have lost your niche in the grocery market.

written by Erica Cooper, August 08, 2011
I no longer shop Kroger. Since Kroger removed their double/triple policy for coupons, I now shop and give my money/business to HEB. Their prices are lower. Kroger's markup on items is so ridiculously high, I just don't understand why the prices are SO high and then you take away a great way to save more money.

I used to shop alot at Kroger here in Houston. And I have stopped shopping there since Kroger eliminated double/triple coupons.
Last night I had to get a bottle of sweet soy sauce that I can only find at Kroger. My Kroger usually is always busy, but the last few times I was there, it was always slow. The funny thing, the manager tried so hard to please customers, to make sure the line at the registers move fast. But I just thought it's already too late for Kroger to get their customers back. Kroger should learn from Walmart and Target, who make couponing is even better experience there.
Kroger, please apply your double/triple coupons again to get your customers back.

I forgot to add this to my 1st post. regarding OVERAGES.
written by Patti L, August 08, 2011
With so many big dollar coupons coming out now - $3. or $5. etc. Here's a new wrinkle at Wal-Mart. If your item costs 1.88 and you have a coupon for $3. for that item, Wal-Mart will give you back 1.12 in change or take the 1.12 off your basket total. With their price matching and cashier friendliness, they are SERIOUS about pulling customers into their stores.

It boggles my mind why Kroger would change theri policy to hurt customers when other retailers are changing their policies in the OTHER direction.

Krogers, I have shopped at your store for years here in Houston Texas. Why would you do something like this to your loyal customers. Not all of us shop just for the heck of getting something free, some of us shopped at your store because we were feeding our families and the coupons that were doubles and triples made a major difference. Why do that to our families. If you care, bring back the doubles and triples.

Kroger, you eliminated your competitive edge in my marketplace when you took away double/triple coupons. Out of habit I miss shopping your store, but I now shop other grocery stores where I DO find great deals.

Frankly, your new gasoline program sucks...and it will never replace or make up for the lost d/t coupons. Recently, other retailers have offered Better gasoline deals AND you don't have to spend $$$ to get their deal.

If you were to bring back d/t coupons, I admit I would return to Kroger to do SOME or a LOT of my shopping, some shopping I'd continue at my new grocery stores (I wouldn't have checked them out if you hadn't dropped the d/t coupons)...for me it's become more about the bottom-line dollar wise vs. store loyalty. Sorry, now I have to keep my family and my finances as my #1 priority.

Why go to Kroger
written by Erin, August 08, 2011
IN the Houston area, now that you no longer double and tripple coupons there is no reason to go to your store. Using coupons is a lot of work and usually done by those that need to. It was a big draw to your store. Maybe you could just put a reasonable limit on the amount of a particular item that you can use coupons on... There has to be a way for it not to be ruined because of extreamers.

Kroger,
Until about 6 months ago, I was a faithful WalMart shopper. And then, fed up with the poor customer service and rising prices, I sought out another store and way of shopping. And while I have not YET been affected by ended doubles/triples/etc, I want your establishment to know that I LOVE my neighborhood Kroger store. However, I am like most shoppers, and would take the bulk of my business to another store if doubles were stopped (we only have doubles of $.50 and below).
I just wanted to let you know that I hope you see the effect it has on your business, and consider bringing back those promotions to the areas that were affected. Thank you!

Kroger, you have severely disappointed me. Your prices aren't cheaper than other stores. I loved shopping the deals with my coupons, but I would also do my non-coupon grocery shopping there too. There is no longer any draw to come to your store and because of this, I choose to no longer shop at your stores. The worst part is I have been a loyal Kroger shopper for over 13 years.

WHAT A JOKE!!!!
written by Jordynn Leigh, August 08, 2011
Kroger has lost my business after they took away the doubling and tripling coupons. I have lived in the Houston area my entire life and have always been loyal to Kroger up until they banned doubling and tripling. What I think is so funny is that they decided to do this in one of the biggest cities in the nation. With the population over 2.5 million in this city, it's no surprise that Kroger has gone downhill. They NEVER have lower prices like they promised and I honestly haven't been in there for the past 4 months now due to the policy change. I completely boycott Kroger until they restart the doubling and tripling program. It is such a joke. As for the Kroger response of "only 7% of customers use coupons and only 1% use more than 10 coupons per transaction," let me respond to THAT with "THE 7% OF THE PEOPLE WHO DID USE COUPONS USED THEM FOR A REASON" and I bet that you've lost more than 60% of your loyal customers thanks to your new policy. Who would even want to spend 100$ in your store every month to get 10cents off of gas when I could go right across the street to Murphy USA and use my Walmart Money Card to automatically receive 10cents off without buying a million dollars worth of products? You've lost my family, my friends, my family friends, and my friends' families to your stupid new policy. Either bring it back or lose business because right now, my business is elsewhere. Hope you feel the heat Kroger and decide to switch it back.

two items.

first, I was told by a long time cashier (Pearland, Tx) that it was passed to all the cashiers at her store that as of July they can only take 5 coupons of like items, as well as they only allow 30 like items to be purchased in a trip. And that this applies to any mega sale or 10/10 sale.

Second, iheartthemart.com has been in contact with walmart to start double coupon policy, and it has started it in select markets (mostly WV and few in UT and OH). So, price matching and doubling & tripling may just make walmart the choice very soon.

Please bring back triple coupons for my area and doubles for other areas. Everyone that shops your stores would appreciate it and it would increase your business as well

I would have only shopped at Kroger when I moved to Houston in April (yep, right when they stopped doubling, lucky me). I am just a single person trying to pay down my student loans as fast as possible. Using coupons simply makes it easier to do that. I rarely use more than 3 like coupons in a transaction. I am NEVER a shelf clearer. I genuinely do not think it is fair that all of the Krogers can have double coupons and only Houston can't. I'm only 26 so I'll have bad feelings against kroger for a long time (think of all the groceries they'll lose from me over the next few decades or so). As of right now, I only stop by Kroger if a blog tells me about a really good deal they're having. HEB's prices just seem lower without Kroger's doubling. Also, stores like Randalls do double so I'll stop by there sometimes. Essentially, when I came to houston prepared to only shop at Kroger...I know only shop there when I know i'll be getting a really good deal on one or two things. Please bring back the doubles!

I haven't shopped at Kroger since March 2011, when I heard they were going to eliminate double/triple coupons...I WAS a loyal Kroger customer for at least 15 years. I am not a CRAZY couponer...I simply use coupons to save my family money. I do not stockpile or clear shelves when I shop...I get enough for my family to consume/use and if I buy extra or get anything free, it is donated to charity. I am not out to be an EXTREME couponer, just a frugal mom/wife trying to save money where I can. HEB and Walmart have happily accepted my coupons, and even though they don't double, their prices are lower everyday than Kroger's sale prices. Kroger's coupon policy changes daily, and according to the cashier or manager, is very vague, and Kroger has become the store with the worst customer-friendly policy. Bring back doubles, Kroger, and also bring back people that enjoy their job of serving others, and then I MIGHT bring my money back to you!

It is interesting to me that at the same time Kroger is testing the waters in stopping doubling, Walmart is starting test markets to begin doubling. The two stores seen to have different theories about whether doubling will be a good or a bad financial move. I, for one, will never shop at Kroger again if they cease to double coupons in my area, as their prices without double coupons cannot compete with Walmart's, especially if Walmart begins to double.

I'm in La Porte, Texas. Kroger has had my loyalty for nearly seven years. I shopped there exclusively! When they stopped doubling my coupons, I stopped shopping there. There are two other stores in the area that will double my coupons and I've started shopping there. Even when Kroger has a good sale, I'd rather price match at Walmart.

We were promised lower prices and we never received them. Not all of us are "extreme couponers". I'm don't have s giant stockpile. I am just a thrifty mom that appreciates a good value.

If Kroger were to bring back this incentive, I would be a very happy customer. Until then, I'm not shopping there anymore.

Since the policy change I have started shopping at Randall's where they still double/triple coupons. I still shop at Kroger, but now I don't buy as much. Bring back double and triple coupons!
written by Nancy in Spring, TX, August 06, 2011
Since April 13th I can count on one hand how many times I have shopped in my local Kroger. I have noticed my Wal-Mart right across the street has picked up so much business since Kroger changed their coupon policy that the managers I know over at that Wal-Mart are thrilled about the policy change. Wal-Mart has even changed their policies to make my shopping easier AND they do not limit me on how many like coupons I can use in one trip. Wal-Mart sees the purchase as more volume sold the more business they are getting.
If Kroger wants to keep their customers they need to change their coupon policy back. I refuse to OVERPAY AND PAD THEIR POCKETS WITH RECORD REVENUE when household budgets have been slashed and more families are buying even less that before just because Kroger got greedy.

Keller, TX Kroger only will double and triple 3 coupons in all in a single transaction :(
written by Sarah, August 04, 2011
I wrote corporate and have not heard back from them. Here is what I wrote:

I use to shop at a new Kroger near us. I loved to shop there, and they were super coupon friendly (doubling/tripling every coupon you brought in). Recently they changed their policy (which I understand is at the discretion of each store).
However, there were no signs out to indicate they had changed it. I found out about the update when they started scanning my coupons and NONE doubled. I asked the cashier about it, and she said it changed, but she wasn't sure what it was. She called a manager, and she was told they can double 3 coupons and triple 3 coupons. So that changed my shopping list. I had to cancel my purchase and redo my shopping list putting back items as I went to figure it out. When I go to check out again, Only 2 tripled and 1 doubled. They had to get a manager to override it. So when I wanted to shop again, I called the store to check their policy and was told they double/triple 3 like coupons in one transaction. I ask if I can get a printed copy of that. They said they'd have the policy at CS. I go to CS and the policy had nothing to do with doubling/tripling on it! I ask another manager about it and he says they only double/triple 3 coupons in total in 1 transaction now. On top of that, I talked to a cashier who I see often up there and told him I'll be shopping less there b/c the coupon policy is a lot less than it use to be. He had NO CLUE the policy had changed. After I talked to him, I talked to another manager who said they double/triple whatever the register will accept. I also told her that the cashiers aren't even aware of the policy change. She said they are a big cooperation...like that was a good excuse or something.
I also warned another co-shopper I saw with her coupons that the policy had changed. She told me she is friends with one of the managers and has no problem with ALL of her coupons doubling/tripling.
Anyway, I believe that if each store gets the responsibility to choose their own policy, they should have a copy available to customers AND update their employees of any change.
I unfortunately will not be shopping at Kroger any more because their coupon policy is too abstract and changes in a whim of whomever is in charge that day. It is overwhelming enough to make our family grocery list, gather the coupons for each item (making sure they are the correct coupons and the right amount), and making sure I get a good deal to feed my family.
The ironic thing is that I had planned on picking up a comment card that night and raving to them about how wonderful they were about their coupons.

Customers or Stockholders?
written by Beverly, August 04, 2011
You recently boasted profits for your shareholders but what about your customers? I don't really like WalMart but they do have lower everyday prices. Albertson's is even higher than you but their sales are worth the trip. The most upsetting thing for me is the variance in coupon policy from store to store. You are a big corporation and shouldn't allow store managers to set their own policy according to their whims. I should be able to shop ANY of your stores across the country and encounter the same double/triple policy and limits if any. You are too big to allow the locals to go rogue.

Kroger Treats Coupon Customers EXTREMELY Bad
written by Dealznstealz, August 03, 2011
Bad customer service and treating coupon customers as second class citizens is EXTREMELY wrong smilies/angry.gif – yet Kroger heavily promoted the TLC EXTREME Couponing Show and gained almost ONE MILLION new visitors in website traffic. Since April, when Kroger ended Double-triple coupons for Houston to “TEST” this new policy - thousands of posts to Kroger's facebook wall have gone unanswered. Kroger promoted the TLC Extreme Couponing show which supports unethical couponing. You can not duplicate the transactions of 1000 products with coupons as demonstrated on this show - the TLC spokesperson said the show was never meant to teach but only show behavior. Why would Mr. Dillon refuse to go on the reality show UNDERCOVER Boss because he did not want to LIE to his employees but it is ok to LIE to you CUSTOMERSsmilies/shocked.gif – that is not CUSTOMER 1st Strategy!! Many customers are finding out at checkout that Kroger is changing coupon policies limit 1-3 coupons where previously there were no limits. Now that Kroger created the "Perfect Storm" for coupon misuse - the customers in this weak economy with skyrocketing food prices are suffering. Couponing as we know it is changing and not for the good. I only hope the industry is not making a cohesive decision as part of their industry collaborative associations to end affordable groceries. Many Kroger customers are now boycotting Kroger. Almost 1,500 Kroger customers now belong to Kroger Couponers on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/groups/krogercouponers

Great deals, clean store, easy to navigate, etc. Once you took away the doubles, it wasn't smart financially for me and my family to continue shopping there. I assumed you were just trying to keep the shelves from being completely wiped out. But then, just 2 wks later, you did away with the super doubles. I have since been forced to drive past your store on to others who have lower prices. Starting this Thursday, Giant Eagle (just 1/2 mile down the road from my Kroger) will have super doubles. Kroger,
I recently became a Kroger shopper about a year ago. Wal-Mart was my store of choice for a long time. I was always irritated that my store only allowed doubling of 3 like coupons but I worked around that. Because of your fuel points I started shopping their more often, but now you've changed those points to make it almost impossible to get unless you're on a bunch of meds or buy gift cards. smilies/cry.gif What's up with that Kroger? The fact that you got into bed with TLC Extreme coupon show only to use the misuse of coupons that YOU allowed in your stores during airings of the show against your loyal customers is distasteful. Shame on you Kroger. You need to revisit what your Best Practices and Core values should be and here's a hint...it's not throwing your loyal customers under the bus. Sad to say I'm no longer a regular customer. Wal-Mart and a small local grocery store get my money. Why? WM because they take competitors coupons (including yours), they match your prices too. They're actually INTERESTED in keeping my business. So as long as you keep making it more difficult for me to save money, I plan on helping to make it difficult for you to make any.

The Fuel reward program saves me only a FRACTION of what the double coupons did. 1% of ppl use 10 or mor coupons? Well then it shouldn't be such an issue to accomidate that 1% if it's so low. I boycotted Kroger for a while. Now I get only a few things whereas I used to shop at least once a week because I got a better price with my doublecoupon. Now, I might as well use my face value coupon at HEB where prices really ARE lower. People are hurting. We rely on these savings.... BRING IT BACK!!!!!

I go to Kroger and shop, not because of the wonderful low prices because let's be honest, Wal-Mart is usually same or lower....but I usually do all of my shopping at Kroger BECAUSE you double coupons! I can assure you that a lot of shoppers I know will go to other stores to shop if we don't have the enticement of "Double/Triple" coupons. If I were you, I'd think twice Kroger!

As a mother of an autistic kid and a family barely gettin by, NOW is not the time to take away our double coupons!!! You have to of had business loss to the extreme! As a loyal Kroger customer I too have been forced to choose other stores for meals. Now i appreciate the deal when it comes to gas but even that you can only use once a month. Couponding is a way of life for many of us. GIVE IT BACK!!! smilies/cry.gif

Bring Back the Double/Triple Coupons to Krogers
written by Ramona Ortiz, August 02, 2011
Sadly to say I have not been in a Krogers in four months. I used to go there weekly but now I don't need to go there at all. HEB has much better prices and gladly accepts my coupons PLUS now they have a gas program as well. Super disappointed in how Krogers has handled the whole Extreme Couponing thing down to there involvement with it. What false advertisement you have portrayed Krogers!!

After many year of being a VERY LOYAL shopper @ the Porter Tx Kroger I have not set foot back in it since doubling and tripling started. I worked at that store in high school, and shopped there for many years and you have LIED to us about why you stopped the program and refused to answer to us as to why.

The fuel program did nothing for couponers. I dont spend $1000 a month on groceries so it will take forever to earn $1 off my gas.

Bring back the doubles and triples!!!!

So discouraged....
written by Amy , August 02, 2011
I've grown up shopping Kroger for over 30 years. I recently started using coupons, only last year. I am completely disappointed in the new policy with does very little for the consumer. I have a large family and I now find it much more cost effective to shop Sams, HEB and even drug stores. Texas has always loved Kroger and we're not 'feeling the love' back anymore. I typically spend over $1000, even with coupons....I know you have many others to shop with you, but you've tarnished your reputation in Spring , TX

No Doubles in Cumming GA
written by Jody Cowan, August 02, 2011
Here in Cumming GA our Kroger also has cut out doubling coupons. Also, only one coupon per item is allowed. So you can't use a paper one along with a digital one on the Kroger cards. I know several people who go to other stores now that still double. We can go to Ingles and Publix here in Cumming to get doubles. They must be losing customers due to this policy. I use coupons to help feed my family of five. We need double coupons!

BRING BACK DOUBLE AND TRIPLE COUPONS
written by Alice, August 02, 2011
I have been a loyal Kroger shopper for over 20 years. It is the store most convenient for me and the store where I felt the most at home. The prices are not the lowest but with the double and triple coupons I could save gas money and get off a little cheaper then driving to HEB or Wal-mart.

My daugher works at Kroger and I have not stepped a foot inside the store since the store quit doubling and tripling coupons. We are a large family and live at poverty level. We needed this program but my family is forced to suffer as we are being treated as guinea pigs and this is not fair. The show Extreme Couponers is unrealistic and the majority of the population does not live and breath coupons but in todays economy we need them to survive. For people well off 50 cents is not a big deal, but when you are poor it is a hell of a lot of money.

Bring back doubling and tripling of coupons, some people need it.

Why would you choose NOW of all times to take away savings that are so very badly needed? People are without jobs and the economy is in the hole. People are choosing between food or paying their light bill. By scaling back the amount your customers can save you are chasing away your customers to other retailers. After all...why go out of the way to go to a Kroger's if I can't get better deals there than at a Walmart?

After 34 years as a loyal Kroger shopper in Toledo, OH, I haven't been to a Kroger store in 4 months. I have friends and family in TX who have been hurt by the elimination of double and triple coupons in the Houston Metro area. Many families are struggling to put food on the table and need the extra savings. Kroger, please reconsider and bring back doubles and triples to Houston.
